What is a blog?

Teaching english in 2017 presents all sorts of obstacles. Book stores, attention spans, and verbal communication are things of the past.  It is hard enough to have students read critically when they barely read at all. Even when students are prepared, sometimes they don't always know how to start an analytical conversation. In the past I've tried blogs while teaching seniors, and the results were worth trying again. I felt that I had succumb to their strength, which was essentially text messaging. I found that a socratic circle really helps with the analysis.  It opens conversation, freely and naturally.
